The blue and red contrast in Anacã's feathers makes it easy to recognize it in the tops of Amazonian trees. Unfortunately, that same combination also attracts other interests:Deroptyus accipitrinus It is a much sought after bird in the wildlife trade. In this work, the piercing look surrounded by intense colors should be seen as a warning about the lack of protection of biodiversity. The registered bird was rescued from animal trafficking and lives in a rehabilitation institution for wild animals. Anacã is also listed in the Red Book of Threatened Brazilian Fauna (Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation/MMA; 1st Ed., 2018).
