Painting selected and exhibited at the 1st International Biennial of Alentejo 2023.
Oil painting from the “Useless Landscape” series, started in 2021 during the Covid period, representing landscapes from the coast of Portugal. This painting illustrates the internal view of Gruta da Boneca, in the Carvoeiro region of the Algarve. Delivered with a light brown wooden frame. (29.5 x 42 cm)
This painting is part of a series started during the Covid pandemic in 2021.
The exuberant beauty of the Portuguese coast is the surroundings, in the small village where the artist lives, in Cascais. The landscapes of the coast of Guincho and Cabo da Roca are present in many of his works. The memory of the gigantic ocean separating her from her affective roots present in Brazil, and the uncertainty of her return caused by the pandemic, added a layer of melancholy to the paintings, which, despite being exuberant, are always depopulated.
The “Inútil Landscape” series was created in reference to the song of the same title by Antônio Carlos Jobim.
The song's lyrics mention this feeling of melancholy and loneliness that the landscape sometimes evokes.
