Harry Cartwright

Harry Cartwright (b. 1993) is a British artist who lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. His work is stylistically inspired by the universes of cinema and advertising, while being deeply rooted in the exploration of place and memory. The multi-layered compositions combine the artist's own images and ideas with references to the everyday world around him. Stylized in a cinematic way, as if seen through a film lens, the works seem to operate as a portal to a misty, sun-drenched era of times gone by.

Employing an investigative approach to color, texture and image, Cartwright's works often convey emotions and feelings associated with nostalgia - as if searching for a nostalgic memory of a place that seems familiar, but at the same time becomes abstract in our minds. The result is witty, observant and escapist works that playfully combine everyday life with pop themes, invented narratives and romance.

The artist obtained his Masters in Fine Art (MA Fine Art, 2021) with distinction from the City & Guilds of London Art School. He has collaborated on projects with brands such as Calvin Klein, Paul Smith and Warner Music Group. His work has been exhibited and integrated into both national and international collections.
