Part of the “Skin of the Earth” series, these photographs present Natália’s new body of research, in which she is interested in reconstructing narratives surrounding the past while offering new possibilities for the future. These narratives revolve around our relationships with the soil and the Earth itself as a territory of dispute and extractivism. What are some of the potential existences found in the eloquent silence of landscapes and stones? How do we define our relationship with the deep layers beneath us? Or our relationship with the dark? Loyola's also exposes the economic and political processes created by the ever-increasing flows of extracted minerals, fueling the colonial modernity we inhabit. These mechanisms affect the self-understanding of the human being, which is also a component of the earth.

Photography on Hahnemühle Matt Fiber 200 paper, limited series of 5 prints, 30 x 21 cm.
