Workshop: Less design, please – with Giulia Fagundes

by | October 29, 2026

“Less design, please” is a participatory and continuous artistic practice that invites participants to slow down and cultivate new ways of seeing through collective walks, observation, photography, and collage. Each edition begins with a simple exercise: paying attention to what often goes unnoticed.

Through the collective creation of images, the project explores observation as a critical and political practice. Collage becomes a tool for questioning dominant visual cultures, activating situated knowledges and revealing multiple ways of understanding memory, territory, and everyday life.

Presented in Brazil, Peru, Spain and the United States, “Less Design, Please” creates temporary spaces for dialogue, collective imagination and the exchange of knowledge. Each encounter forms a living archive, in which images are reorganized, dominant narratives are destabilized and new possibilities for seeing the world and relating to it emerge.

Giulia Fagundes is a designer, artist and independent researcher, a master’s degree in Design. Her practice articulates graphic design, contemporary art and critical research, investigating the relationships between image, memory, territory and the production of knowledge. From a decolonial perspective, she questions the systems of representation and legitimation that determine which narratives and knowledges are recognized. She is the creator of Menos Design, Por Favor, an itinerant workshop held in cities such as São Paulo, Salvador, Belém, Barcelona, New York and Lima, which proposes the observation of everyday life and artistic experimentation as ways to question the homogenization of references and build collective knowledge.
