ON PAIN: Nara Rosetto

Brazilian artist Nara Rosetto has her artistic research motivated by a diagnosis received four years ago. Fibromyalgia, an autoimmune illness, is characterized by widespread chronic pain throughout the body, acting as an invisible disease. Medical exams would always come back showing normal results, making the investigation for answers extremely frustrating and tiring. One of the main challenges that chronic pain patients face is to live with something incomprehensible to others, and oftentimes being questioned if their pain is real or not.

"I seek to create works about the vulnerability of the human condition through daily documentation and other works that illustrate trivial situations, revealing the fragility and invisibility of the theme itself. In general, my work reinforces the immense intensity and imperceptibility of the subject."
