Territory

The word territory refers to a portion of land or space; a defined area to which we belong. For centuries, humanity has been guided by territory and countless wars have been fought in defense of the term. Our birthplace and the land we inhabit, were always determinant factors in our individual trajectories.

But is the term territory still as influential as it once was? In an immensely connected and globalized world, does our heritage remain a critical factor that defines our lives?

Historically, the creative practice has been impacted by where the artist comes from, but in times where the geographical and cultural boundaries are increasingly tenuous, how is the idea of territoriality discussed? What has changed?
