Coletivo Amarelo at Santa Clara's Market

If you live in Lisbon, you are certainly already familiar with the Santa Clara Market and the Feira da Ladra flea market. Therefore, it is an honor to announce that Coletivo Amarelo will be present at the pop up art store Saudade, on the 8th, at Feira da Ladra.

Feira da Ladra flea market

The oldest and most popular open air flea market in Lisbon has been held since the 13th century, in the Middle Ages. Feira da Ladra has already passed through different neighborhoods of the city, but today it is installed in Campo de Santa Clara, behind the monastery of São Vicente de Fora.

The Santa Clara Market, also known as the Oriental Market, was one of the first commercial buildings to use two characteristic materials in Europe in the second half of the 19th century: iron and glass in its architecture.

By tradition, the fair is dedicated to the trade of used objects and antiques. However, the market has become a center for promoting culture, where sporadic exhibitions also take place.

Coletivo Amarelo and Feira da Ladra

This will not be the first year that we carry out an action at Feira da Ladra. In 2021, we hosted a workshop on fanzines, in partnership with Casa do Capitão, in Lisbon.

On that occasion, we divided the workshop in two parts, the first of which focused on the historical context of fanzines. In the second part, we collectively produced a fanzine with those enrolled in the workshop. Our aim was to build a fanzine in honor of Feira da Ladra itself, analyzing its role as an anthropological place.

Now, we will be back at the Santa Clara market participating in the Saudade pop up art store. Saudade is an ephemeral experience distributed through the streets of Lisbon, where artists gather to sell and promote their work. This is a great opportunity to honor local and international artists with unique perspectives. Also an opportunity to take home an exclusive piece, such as prints, photographs, collages, paintings, books and much more!

Feira da Ladra's relevance

Feira da Ladra, something so historic for the city of Lisbon, is a center that feeds culture and allows the exhibition of local artists. For us at Coletivo Amarelo to be part of this is something extremely important.

This ephemeral and constantly evolving environment provides a unique experience every time we go to the Fair. Transforms art into a living, palpable and real organism. Through exhibitions, such as the Saudade pop up store, it is possible to get in touch with the artists and experience real art, made by those who work and live from their production.

Art is a way of connecting and seeing new realities. Feira da Ladra is a way of putting ourselves in the midst of this reality. This is even an excellent opportunity to present the people around you with art. This end of the year, gift art!

The Saudade pop up store will take place on the 8th, from 10am to 10pm, in the beautiful Mercado de Santa Clara, a historic place in Lisbon.
